Entry Conditions:
1: The nominated Line Dance/s should be an original choreography composition.
2: The dance/s should not have been choreographed or released prior to 1 October 2009.
3: Entry for individual choreographers is limited to 5 dances/entries per section.
4: Entries must be completed online via the Line Dance Association of Australia (LDAA) website: www.linedanceaustralia.com.au.
5: All competitors – choreographers and dancers performing on stage - must be registered with the ALDC / LDAA observing the following points:
a. Registration is to be completed online via the LDAA website.
b. NEW registrations will incur a $6 administration fee.
c. ALTERATIONS (e.g. name/club changes) to your own registration can be made using the form available on the LDAA website.
6: You must sign and return the Conditions of Entry Form available for download on the LDAA website as above.
7: Two signed copies of the step description are to be mailed via Australia Post services to the LDAA / ALDC and are to be received by close of business on Friday, 4th December, 2009:

8: The original dance sheet/s, produced for public release, must also be emailed (as a back-up copy of your posted dance sheet/s) to the following email address: choreography@linedanceaustralia.com.au by or before 12midnight AEDST on Friday 4 December 2009.
9: Entries close at 12 midnight AEDST on Friday 4 December 2009. (No late entries will be accepted). The total fee will be calculated and the appropriate invoice sent to competitors.
PLEASE NOTE: Entry Fees are payable by Electronic Funds Transfer only.
10: Entry fees, quoting invoice number, must be paid by close of business (5pm) on Friday 18 December 2009 via direct deposit to the ALDC bank account – details as follows:

11: Entry fee is $8 per dance per section or $7 for LDAA members per dance per section.
12: Line Dance should be country in style.
Dance Sheet Criteria:
13: The Step description must be typed and in a format suitable for teaching and must include all of the following details:
a. Name of the dance
b. Choreographer’s name/s and contact details (phone, email address, website, etc)
c. Date the dance was choreographed (DATE/ MONTH/ YEAR format)
d. Song - Artist and Album and the track time length and starting point
e. Level of dance e.g. beginner, intermediate, advanced etc
f. Number of walls, total counts and direction (Clockwise/Counter clockwise)
g. Australian Artist if applicable
Music:
14: Must be provided by the competitor on a commercial CD which is currently available to the public, or available as a LEGAL download, for cost, through sites such as ‘Bigpond.com’ and ‘iTunes.com’
PLEASE NOTE: Proof of purchase by the competitor / choreographer will be required if music is provided for the purpose of the ALDC 2010 on a “burnt” CD or in any format that does not include a commercial CD available to the public, for the dance to be eligible to be entered in the competition. Print outs of emails and receipts from sites such as ‘Bigpond’ and ‘iTunes’ etc will be accepted as proof of music purchase.
15: Music is to be handed to the DJ on request and must be clearly marked with the competitor’s name, dance name, track number and section number.
16: Music may be country or non-country remembering that selected music may reflect upon the dance style, which is country.
17: Music selected for waltzes will include simple and compound time as follows: 3/2, 3/4, 3/8, 6/8, 9/8, 12/8 time signatures provided the step combination is in groups of 3. Rise and fall of waltz must be adhered to regardless of music timing. Steps should be in groups of three. Syncopations (and counts) are permitted in the choreography of any waltz entered in the ALDC 2010 Choreography Competition
18: Cha cha dances do not need to adhere to Latin cha timing e.g. 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5, 6, 7, 8 & 1
The step combinations, music and rhythm will determine whether or not the dance is considered a cha cha for the purpose of the competition.
Performance and Dress Rules:
19: The dance can be performed by two (2) to four (4) dancers only. PLEASE NOTE: All dancers must be registered with the ALDC / LDAA and have a competitor’s number to perform the choreographed dances on stage. Registration can be completed online as per Rule 5.
20: Dancers are required to dress the same, wearing either blue or black jeans (no skirts) and a plain white shirt or t-shirt. PLEASE NOTE: No ‘club shirts’ are to be worn and dancers WILL NOT be permitted to perform.
21: Western hats are optional but if worn they should be either black or white and all dancers must wear the same.
22: No crop tops, singlet shirts or strapless tops are allowed and all dress should adhere to the clothing rules in ALDC general rules as per above.
23: The dance should be presented as a regular line dance without freestyle variations and with the steps executed exactly as choreographed and documented on the dance cue sheet provided for the purpose of the competition. No extra styling/hat work is to be added unless it is part of the dance choreography as per the dance cue sheet.
24: Overly suggestive movements will be grounds for disqualification.
25:
Overly suggestive/offensive music will be grounds for exclusion from
competition.
26: Any person not abiding by the rules may be disqualified or incur a heavy point loss.
27: No restarts of dances will be permitted unless requested by the judges.
28: The judge’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
29: A limit of 5 dances per choreographer may be entered in each section as stated. However the event organisers retain the right to limit the total number of dances in a section if it is deemed necessary and to limit the time / length of the dance demonstration if and when necessary.
30: Prizes for choreography will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places provided there are 5 or more entries in the section.
31: In sections with less than 5 entries, winner and runner up medals will be awarded only.
32: Only one (1) medal per dance will be presented, as it is the DANCE winning the title NOT the choreographer/s.
33: The dance will be adjudicated on presentation of step description, dance content including suitability of dance for level entered, flow of choreographed moves, originality of steps or step combinations, suitability of steps for music/rhythm selected, floor-craft and visual appeal.
34: If there are less than 3 entries per section, that section will be withdrawn and entry fees will be returned to the competitor.
35: Unless otherwise stated, all ALDC 2010 General Rules will apply for the choreography section and any infringement of these rules will incur the listed penalty.
36: All dances are to be entered into the appropriate Choreography Sections as follows:
a: Beginner Line Dance
b: Easy intermediate Line Dance
c: Intermediate Line Dance
d: Advanced Line Dance
e: Beginner / Easy Intermediate Waltz or Cha Cha
f: Intermediate / Advanced Waltz or Cha Cha
PLEASE NOTE: There is NO Australian Artist Section in the ALDC 2010 Choreography Competition. However the 3 highest scoring dances choreographed to an Australian Artist will be awarded the medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place in the competition, provided there are 5 or more dances entered which have been choreographed to music by Australian artists. If there are less than 5 dances choreographed to Australian Artists, as per above, only 1st place and runner-up will be awarded. If there are less than 3 dances choreographed to Australian Artists, as per above, NO MEDAL will be awarded.
